HIPs Technical Advisory Group Meetings

How Are Practices Identified and Selected? In an effort to support the renewed focus on evidence-based programming, a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) was formed. The TAG is made up of more than 25 international experts in family planning research, programming, and implementation identified from donor agencies, research institutions, and service delivery organizations. The Technical Advisory Group (TAG) meets twice a year to review the most recent evidence and make recommendations to update and implement HIPs. Meeting reports for all prior TAG meetings are available below.


HIPs TAG Virtual Meeting – March 18 – 20, 2025

Meeting Objectives:

  • Provide input into the HIPs Partnership Strategy and direction of HIPs Partnership given the current funding and implementation landscape
  • Provide integrated and high-quality feedback on draft HIPs products
  • Strengthen gender integration across HIPs products and partnership
  • Establish protocols and processes to ensure adequate onboarding of new TAG members and continuity of expertise and knowledge
  • Set processes to ensure HIPs products are relevant and reflect the most up to date evidence

  • Clarify meeting norms
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities of TAG members and Co-sponsors

  • Provide input on draft HIPs knowledge products presented for review
  • Agree on criteria for assessing need for new HIPs products, updating existing ones, and retiring older ones
