Saswati Das
Dr. Saswati Das joined UNFPA, India as Sexual and Reproductive Health Specialist in August 2021. Before joining UNFPA, she was serving as Director-Program & Clinical Services in Jhpiego, India, where she worked for 11 years. Working with Jhpiego, she made remarkable contributions in establishing and scaling up post-partum family planning, post-partum and post-abortion IUD services and expanding family planning basket of choice in the country and demonstration of improved, innovative models of maternal health services in public health care system in India. In her 25 years of experience in public health, Dr. Das has provided technical and managerial leadership in maternal and child health, family planning, reproductive health, HIV prevention focusing on quality of care, capacity building of health care providers, learning resource package development, and transfer of learning. Prior to Jhpiego, she worked with other international organizations, viz. Population Services International as Director of Medical Services and Training and IntraHealth International as Country Clinical Manager. Dr. Das has numerous presentations and publications to her credit. She has presented in many national and international forums, and has been a member of technical advisory groups with government of India and international health organizations. She is an International Training Expert certified by Jhpiego head office, Baltimore, USA and provided technical assistance to countries aside from India, especially other South Asian and African countries. She is also an international reviewer of papers for several reputed global conferences and peer-reviewed journals of public health. During her tenure in Jhpiego, Dr. Das has been awarded the certificate for Jhpiego Leadership Development Program (2 years course) for her successful accomplishment in the first global cohort for the course. Dr. Das holds Master degree in Public Health from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India; and the bachelor degree in medicine and surgery (MBBS) from Calcutta University, India.
