Shawn Malarcher
Shawn Malarcher serves as the Senior Advisor on Utilization of Best Practices for United States Agency for International Development (USAID). She has more than 15 years of experience managing and supporting social science research in developing countries. Her work focuses on translating evidence into program and policy guidance. One of Ms. Malarcher primary functions is to provide leadership and coordination to the collaboration on High Impact Practices in Family Planning, a partnership involving over 25 donors and implementing partners in international family planning.
Prior to her current position, Shawn served as a scientist with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Department of Reproductive Health and Research. While at WHO, Shawn coordinated the Department’s contribution to the Commission on the Social Determinants of Health and provided technical support to developing country scientists implementing social science research on reproductive health. Prior to joining WHO, she managed a 70 million dollar operations research cooperative agreement for USAID supporting research in Latin America, Asia, and Africa. Shawn also served as the coordinator for USAID’s Repositioning Family Planning initiative. Shawn received an MPH in epidemiology from Tulane University and has lived and worked in Kazakhstan, Ghana, and Switzerland.
