Hashina Begum

Hashina Begum is a medical graduate with a Masters in Public Health and Diploma in STD/AIDS.  She has over 22 years of working experience in developing countries to strengthen health system for equitable access to and utilization of quality maternal health, family planning, cervical and breast cancer, obestetric fistula and STI/HIV/AIDS services. She has provided technical backstopping, planning, designing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating services, as well as assuring the quality of nationwide community and facility-based integrated programs for vulnerable and hard-to-reach populations. Currently Dr. Begum is working with UNFPA Sierra Leone as Technical Specialist after completing 3 years with UNFPA Bangladesh as an Assistant Representative for Reproductive Health.  Prior to joining UNFPA  Dr. Begum worked with UNICEF, Pathfinder International, JSI Research and Training Institute, Inc., The Asia Foundation, and Social Marketing Company, Bangladesh in senior managerial as well as technical capacities.  She has experience in developing policies, strategies and advocating policy issues, incorporating policies into national plans and strategies, building capacity and providing advice to policy makers, program managers and service providers in ensuring quality integration of maternal and child health and family planning services.
