Dr. Suzanne Jacobs Serruya is the Director of the Latin American Center for Perinatology, Women and Reproductive Health at PAHO. She was an adjunct professor at the University of Pará (UEPA) between 1989 and 2010, where she coordinated the internship in gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine, Research, Extension and Graduate School of Medicine and Labor. In 1996 she was invited to take charge of the area of women's health, in the Municipality of Health of Belém, state of Pará. During her mandate as municipal coordinator of the technical area of Women's Health, the city of Belem stood out to Level for the excellent management of women's rights. In 1999, she joined the Ministry of Health as a consultant for the Technical Department of Women's Health. In 2003, she began to coordinate the area of institutional development, with emphasis on research and technological development for the states in the Department of Science and Technology (DECIT), in April 2005 assumed the position of Director of the same department, the Department of Science, Technology and Strategic Inputs (SCTIE) / MS. In 2008, she was selected by the World Health Organization / Pan American Health Organization for the post of Regional Advisor for Sexual and Reproductive Health for the Americas, at the Latin American Center for Perinatology (CLAP / SMR) in the city of Montevideo.
